CPT Coding Changes Set

 

Beginning January 1st, 2018, new CPT coding changes regarding psychiatric collaborative care management services will go into effect.

Psychiatric Collaborative Care Management Services

- Requires direction from a physician or qualified health care professional to a behavioral health manager during calendar month.

- Requires a psychiatric consultant who does not need to see a patient by consult with primary care physician.

99492: First 70 minutes of behavioral health care manager activities, whether in front of patients or not, directed by treating physician or qualified health care professional. 

99493: Subsequent 60 minutes of behavioral health care manager activities, whether in front of patients or not, directed by treating physician or qualified health care professional. 

99494: Initial or subsequent psych collaborative care management, first 30 minutes of behavioral health care manager activities, whether in front of patients or not, directed by treating physician or qualified health care professional (to be used in conjunction with 99492 or 99493).

99484: Care management services for behavioral health conditions, and at least 20 minutes of staff time directed by a physician or qualified health care professional.
